Research Assistant position open Behavioral Economics Lab in Chennai, India Prof. Frank Schilbach (MIT), Prof. Heather Schofield (University of Pennsylvania) and Prof.
Gautam Rao (Harvard University) are hiring a Research Assistant for the Behavioral Economics Lab in Chennai (affiliated with IFMR). The studies conducted by the lab are primarily Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) at the intersection of behavioral and development economics. The studies cover a range of topics such as the impact of improved nutrition on productivity, the economic effects of sleep deprivation, the impact of physical pain on cognitive function and productivity, and the determinants of profit-maximizing decisions among micro-entrepreneurs. The position offers an excellent opportunity to gather hands-on experience in research and management.

Key responsibilities

? Conduct data collection
? Assist RA in data cleaning and conducting statistical analysis using Stata
? Prepare literature reviews and background research
? Assist PIs and Research Associate (RA) to coordinate field research activities
? Undertake any general operational or administrative activities assigned by the RA

Desired qualifications

? A Bachelor’s degree in Economics or other related fields with some quantitative work
? Strong academic record
? Knowledge of or willingness to learn Stata to participate in data cleaning and analysis
? Strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills required
? Familiarity with randomized control trials
? Excellent command of Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
? Fluency in English and Tamil is required
