Functions / Responsibilities
Assistant Managers – Public Relations (3 Openings)
I. Pre-requisite
a. 3-5 years of experience. Experience in a Public Relations Agency is desired.
b. Graduate or post-graduate in English Literature/ Communications/ Journalism/
Management with a strong affinity towards creative writing which shall be reflected in their
articulation in storytelling
c. Ability to quickly understand complex business concepts
d. Impeccable communication skills - oral, written & presentation.
e. Confident with an easy positive image to motivate & lead team member
f. Strong organizational and leadership skills
g. Ability to develop, execute and drive results
h. Ability to prioritise and plan effectively & execute multi tasking, as required.
i. Appreciation of client/Project timelines and ability to work within timeframes.
II. Responsibility
A. Role Mandate
a. Analytical skills
i. Clear analytical mind with attention to detail
ii. Track & update the client industry/sector development regularly (daily/or otherwise,
as required & agreed)
iii. Appreciation of client’s industry/sector and its business goals & objectives
iv. Suggest appropriately to clients on trends & current methods with suggestive data
b. Delivery skills
i. Understand how to leverage social media and other media, as required within brand-
comm strategy
ii. Ensure 100% (end-to-end) timely execution of the plan
iii. Ensure ideas proposed in the plan carry similar news peg for conversion
iv. Ability to sell stories to media, creatively, through excellent media relations
c. Team Mentoring & Supervision skills
i. Drives results with each team member
ii. Oversees, Mentors & works along with each of the team member with mutually
agreed set of journalists which should evolve and result in stories.
iii. Ensure that you help the team in research, drafting proposal, follow up for meeting
and being part of the presentation
iv. Develop and oversee teams' performance, ensuring quality work is done, efficient
processes are followed,
v. Assure that client requests are handled in a timely fashion.
vi. Appreciate the team as well as provide timely feedback for betterment, appropriately
B. Delivery Focus
a. Ownership & Accountability
i. Draft the annual approach/ campaign/ quarterly plans
ii. Monitor & assist on the weekly plans drafted by the team members
iii. Contribute towards big ticket ideas in all/most plans
iv. Maintaining an updated record of the media lists, journalists trackers, media round
reports as well as journalists’ and publications’ profiles
v. Ensure timely discussion with clients on follow up stories, trends and event ideas.
vi. Ensure that the client receives timely updates and the team is involved in frequent
communication with client leading to strengthening of the relationship
b. Client Management
i. Ensure that the client receives what has been mutually agreed and appreciates the
team
ii. Ensure that the client concerns or issues are handled promptly, by seeking help as
appropriate.
iii. Keep a constant vigilance on the client interactions to assure client satisfaction as
well as retention.
iv. Ensure timely collections of payments from clients.
C. Business Orientation
a. Supervisory Skills
i. Weekly Executive Summaries are drafted & shared with clients in a
timely manner.
ii. Every quarter, review the presentations to be presented to the client.
iii. Assist, supervise and mentor the team towards improving the content
capabilities.
b. Industry Expertise
i. Local and global insight, trends and strategies of the industry functioning.
ii. Fundamental understanding of the client/s in terms of the history, evolution, key
turning points, policies, key figures etc. as well as the sector/s relevant to the client/s.
iii. Regular (daily) monitoring by way following, researching and driving conversations
with stakeholders who are experts in the sector.
D. Process Adherence
f. Adhere to the brand-comm Client Service Level expectation of Response within
an hour of receiving the client’s communication in any form – message /text/
email/ call.
g. Adhere to brand-comm Reporting process including WIP, Monthly, Quarter and
Annual Reports
h. Maintain an updated Media mapping and Tracker, at all times
i. Client Data to be captured in a systematic manner, as per brand-comm method
of uniform folder nomenclature
j. Responsible to track and update teams in other cities about their client’s
(irrespective of location) mentions and media developments
k. Create & ensure that the document, reports, trackers so created by the team is
available on a mutually agreed shared drive & intimated to the stakeholders.
E. Organization-wide Responsibility
f. Contribute to Make brand-comm better (referred to as MBB)
g. Stay Positive attitude, ready to take up challenges and in MBB a reality
h. Take feedbacks positively and progress to work on resolutions
i. Work as a team and not as an individual
j. Up skill oneself continuously by any/all means viz., making use of available
resources, support of reporting managers and/ or seek specific trainings.
