Job Title: Technical Writer

You will write and edit task- and workflow-oriented operational, instructional, and maintenance
procedures for NetApp products and solutions, using industry-standard publishing and multimedia tools. You will interview subject matter experts and technical staff, and you will conduct research, translating technically complex information into simple-to-understand content. You will advocate for customers, developing content that simplifies customer experience and conforms to company standards.

Job Requirements
Essential Functions:
ï‚· Responsible for delivering documentation for a product or product features of moderate complexity.
ï‚· Collaborate with senior staff and stakeholders to plan and implement information architectures.
ï‚· Update and maintain existing content.
ï‚· Implement library strategies for a product line.
ï‚· Ability to work across the NetApp portfolio, demonstrating the ability to switch contexts.
Requirements:
ï‚· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
ï‚· Excellent command of standard American English syntax and grammar.
ï‚· Strong technical skills.
ï‚· Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment of other writers, editors, and cross
functional peers to support deadlines.
Responsibility and Interaction:
ï‚· Responsibility:  
o The types of tasks you will be responsible for are well-defined. You will utilize and build
understanding of standard practices within a team environment.
o You will begin to build a specialty within the functional area and better understand NetApp’s
systems.
ï‚· Interaction: 

o You will interact primarily with the direct manager and the immediate team on assigned projects, and may communicate with employees in other functions as required.
o You will receive regular and detailed direction, and there will be on-going review of activities and priorities.
Education and Experience
ï‚· No prior experience is required. Most new employees in this position have 0-2 years of technical writing experience.
ï‚· A Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree in English, Journalism, Computer Science or Engineering is
required.
ï‚· Preferred experience:
o DITA and XML authoring tools
o Familiarity with wiki or other lightweight markup languages like Markdown or AsciiDoc
o Experience with social media and blog authoring
ï‚· Technical experience is preferred.
