Functions/Responsibilities

1. Responsibilities for SolarWinds Administrator include,
   but are not limited to: 

2. Provide expertise to leverage MIBs, OIDs, and WMI
   performance counters to diagnose and troubleshoot network problems 

3. Review business requirements and improve monitoring of
   the Orion Platform 

4. Provide expertise to help improve a reporting system
   that meets the needs of our client and create additional Orion reports 

5. Determine monitoring scope and impact on the network 

6. Perform cleanup of unused and obsolete elements 

7. Configure additional Orion alerts 

8. Configure and manage Syslog and SNMP traps 

9. Enable devices for network management including
   configuration changes 

10. Determine future capacity requirements 

11. Provide expertise to define, monitor, and report on
    SLAs 

12. Provide expertise to detect and verify network faults 

13. Provide expertise to detect and verify performance
    issues and determine the scope of the performance issue 

14. Provide expertise to properly configure and monitor
    NetFlow data 

15. Collect and analyze network monitoring data to
    determine the cause of the performance issue 

16. Review Orion and optimize its performance 

17. Discover and manage additional network elements (e.g.
    nodes, interfaces, volumes) using Orion 

18. Customize Orion web console and Orion custom
    properties, views, and menu bars to meet client business needs 

19. Create and maintain Orion maps, including online
    diagrams of server rooms, MDFs and IDFs 

20. Identify the ways in which Orion can integrate with
    other management products 

21. Create new documentation and update existing
    documentation 

22. Perform other IT duties as assigned by the Network
    Infrastructure Manager

Skills required

• Expertise in the
  administration, support, and operation of the Orion SolarWinds platform
  including Network Performance Monitor, Network Configuration Manager, Server
  & Application Monitor, NetFlow Traffic Analyzer and IP Address Manager 

• Expertise in the
  use of network management protocols (e.g. SNMP, SNMP Traps, Syslog, ICMP,
  NetFlow,etc.) 

• Knowledge of and
  experience with LAN/WAN and Data Center environments, including servers 

• Possess strong
  interpersonal skills 

Possess excellent verbal and writing skills
