The Department of Civil Engineering conducted an Alumni Technical Talk on “PRINCIPLES OF ANALYSIS AND DESIGN OF TALL STRUCUTRES” by Mr. Yogeshwaran P, Alumni from graduating M.Tech batch of 2021. In view of post graduate students expressing their wish to prepare for interviews in structural design companies, Mr. Yogeshwaran who is currently employed with ATKINS (A leading multi-national structural and service consultants) was contacted. He in his detailed presentation explained to the students the fundamental concept of structural engineering, first principles used to design high rised buildings, and various structural systems. He emphasised on the importance of the knowledge of code books and how it can help students gain a technical advantage over peers applying for similar positions. He also informed the students to be well versed not only in Indian standards but also American, European and British Standards for better prospects of working in MNCs and handling international projects. He volunteered to help students who have taken up design projects and guide them with his technical expertise.
